Forest Lake Winter Plunge History
Since 2009 The Forest Lake Rotary Club has held the Winter Plunge at Lakeside Memorial Park in Forest Lake, Minnesota. This event gives non-profits, and teams supporting non-profits, the opportunity to fundraise for THEIR causes by making an icy splash in February! Teams are encouraged to raise donations by sponsoring plungers. For many local non-profits this is the biggest fundraiser they have all year.

How are the pledge/donation totals calculated?
The Rotary Club of Forest Lake puts on the Winter Plunge event to assist non-profit organizations in raising funds. There is significant planning and expense in putting on this event. To cover those costs and raise money for Rotary Club projects, the money raised by each Plunge team is divided between the recipient non-profit organization and the Rotary Club. 70% of the total raised is to the non-profit organization of the team’s choice and 30% goes to the Rotary Club of Forest Lake. Challenge Pot earnings are awarded directly to the team’s organization and is not included in the split total.
What is the Organization Registration form for?
The Rotary Club of Forest Lake requires the Organization Registration form to be completed and returned before releasing funds to the recipient organizations. This form enables the Club to verify the organizations non-profit status and ensure that funds will be used in accordance with guidelines set forth in the document. This form will be emailed to team captains and is also available at forestlakerotary.org.
When will the recipient organizations receive their donation check?
Cash and check pledges will be accepted the day of the Winter Plunge at Check In. Pledges will be accepted on the website through February 25th, 2023. The Rotary Club of Forest Lake will calculate the totals and then issue checks out to the recipient organizations. There will be a check presentation event in March, with more information to be announced! If you are unable to make that, checks will be mailed out by the end of March 2023. If this changes, you will be notified via email. Checks can be sent to the organization directly, or to Team Captains to be presented to the organization.
I want to take the Plunge, what do I need to do?
Pick a non-profit organization you would like to raise funds for, get a team together and sign up online at forestlakerotary.org. See the 3rd paragraph above “How do I register?”. An Organization Registration form will need to be filled out by your recipient organization and returned with the necessary proofs prior to funds being issued.
